Plastic Tubing Materials

Genplex manufactures thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) tubing and hose from a variety of materials in sizes ranging from .020" to 4" outside diameter. TPE tubing is manufactured from copolymers that provide a range of physical properties which cannot be found in conventional elastomers, and provides the advantages of both rubber and plastic materials. Custom formulations are available for specific markets and applications.

Polyurethane Tubing

Polyurethane tubing (TPU) provides excellent chemical and abrasion resistance in applications which demand durability. Polyurethane tubing also possesses superior scratch resistance and high tensile strength, while providing the customer with low temperature flexibility and elastic rebound. Genplex manufactures polyurethane tubing and flexible hose from two main classes of polyurethane, which range in durometer from 52A to 95A (for comparison, a rubber band has a Shore durometer typically around 35A while the wheels of a roller skate would be 85A). Polyether-based polyurethane tubing provides greater low temperature flexibility, while polyester-based polyurethane is more resistant to heat aging with additional protection from oils, fuels, and solvents.

Thermoplastic Vulcanizate

Thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV), a copolymer blend of polypropylene and EPDM rubber, is a low cost, lightweight solution for applications typically requiring thermal set rubber. TPV tubing is resistant to heat aging, fatigue, and compression set, while maintaining desirable low temperature flexibility.

Alcryn®

Alcryn® is a melt-processible rubber that is designed for parts that operate in demanding end use environments, but require the superior performance of rubber. Alcryn® brings the rich look and feel of vulcanized rubber to molded and extruded products that regular TPEs can't reach. It matches the mechanical properties, elasticity, and soft-feel of rubber that is not found in regular TPE products.
